I have experience in several environments, including hospitals, school boards, community mental health services, voluntary inpatient treatment, and private practice. My research experience has explored the impact of attentional challenges on math learning.

Social Worker
Rebecca Sheluk, MSW, RSW
(she/her)
Whether you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or are unsure of how to cope, I believe that therapy can be a powerful tool to reduce suffering, build resiliency, and attain a life that is rich and meaningful to you. I combine my empathetic, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach with evidence-based interventions, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)* to support clients in identifying and achieving their goals.
I am a registered social worker with a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from McMaster University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Dalhousie University. I have experience with clients of all ages providing both group and individual interventions to support with a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, suicidal and self-injurious behaviour, grief, major life-transitions, trauma, and complex interpersonal concerns. While I am passionate about supporting all of these populations, I also have a special interest in working with trauma, grief, first responders and their families, young adults, and pre and postnatal populations.
* EMDR is an extensively studied structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. EMDR can help address trauma and PTSD symptoms, anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.
